FLYING

In these days of green fanaticism flying is starting to become the whipping boy of transportation.

Nonetheless it is still an essential means of reaching your destination, especially if time is limited.

Here I review various airlines and airports

RAIL

There was, many years ago in the days of British Rail, a TV advert with the strapline “let the train take the strain”

Ignoring crowded commuter trains, rail is still a relaxing way to reach your destination.

Be it a small local train transporting locals or a Shinkansen “bullet train” streaking across Japan.

ROAD

Be it a straight open road traversing a desert in the United States or a twisting mountain road with fear inducing drops and hairpin bends – driving is a great way to see a country and get off the beaten track.

SAILING

There’s nothing quite like a sea voyage if you’re visiting islands.

Ferries come in all shapes and sizes.
